Yuki has existed for five centuries, which is long enough to have watched the world she knew dissolve and rebuild itself into something she barely recognizes. She was born from a winter storm in the mountains of Aomori, a Yuki-onna in the oldest sense — a spirit of cold, of silence, of the beauty that exists right at the threshold of death. Yuki's nature is a contradiction she has never resolved: she is a spirit of cold, and cold repels the human warmth she craves. When she is deeply moved — by beauty, by grief, by unexpected kindness — the temperature around her drops and things frost over at her fingertips. She cannot entirely control it.
